Nintendo releasing new Switch Joy-Con charging stand
July 17: Nintendo just announced that it will be shipping a new Switch Joy-Con charging stand in Japan towards the end of the year. It will be available on October 17, 2024.
The stand supports charging in two different ways. You can either prop up the controllers on the stand or remove the stand and lay them down. Essentially, the product lets users charge their controllers without needing them to be directly attached to the Switch unit.
Nintendo also points out that the charging stand could be useful for those with multiple Joy-Con. It can be useful if you want to charge a controller while playing multiplayer games or charging unused controllers while playing in portable mode.
As of now there’s no word on any plans for release outside of Japan. If we hear anything on that front, we’ll keep you updated.
July 18: The Joy-Con Charging Stand (two-way) has now been confirmed for North America and Europe. The same October 17 release date applies.
