Nintendo says it’s not starting US Switch 2 pre-orders yet as it assesses tariffs and market conditions
Nintendo has issued a statement about Switch 2 pre-orders in the United States, noting that they have been delayed. Reservations have not started since the company is evaluating “the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions.”
Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 were set to begin stateside on April 2. Now, however, that has been pushed back to an unspecified date, though the console remains on track for June 5. Meanwhile, pre-order have opened in some other regions – and many have already sold out.
The full statement regarding the delay of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in the United States are as follows:
“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”
Nintendo Switch 2 is, at least currently, planned to cost $450. Games could go as high as $80, with Mario Kart World going for that amount currently.
