Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatibility fixes August 2025

This week, Nintendo issued its latest backwards compatibility fixes for a few Switch 1 games on Switch 2 stemming from the latest firmware patch. It’s not as large a batch as the previous wave, but this shows that the company is committed to further improvements where possible.

The latest list is as follows:

  • Cotton Reboot High Tension
  • D.C.III: Da Capo III – Plus Story
  • DarkStar One: Nintendo Switch Edition
  • Disgaea 7: Hour of Darkness
  • Vagante

The fix for DarkStar One is particularly interesting as Nintendo had just updated the eShop listing for the game in mid-July with a notice about its issues on Switch 2. In other words, there was a quick turnaround to make it fully backwards compatible. Hopefully we’ll continue to see further improvements for other titles experiencing issues – we’ll let you know if we spot any other fixes.

Aside from these fixes, also this week, Nintendo gave a few status updates for a few Switch games that aren’t totally perfect on Nintendo Switch 2. First, for Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX and Marco & the Galaxy Dragon, users may experience slowdown in some areas. Also, for Windjammers, players may encounter audio problems in some areas. Further details weren’t provided, though fixes could come later.

You can see the full list of games that were fixed last month here. We also have coverage of this week’s system update here.
