Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatibility list

April 2: Nintendo has provide a new Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatibility list, which outline which games aren’t compatible with Switch 1.

As of now there’s just one title identified as fully nonfunctional – that being Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit. Nintendo has also outlined games that need a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, titles that start up but have issues, and ones with flat-out start up problems.

April 16: We have news about two games. First, for Fortnite, Nintendo mentions that Fortnite will have a native Nintendo Switch 2 version. As for Fitness Boxing, issues surrounding the game will be addressed with an update.


May 27: Nintendo has updated things once again – you can check out everything on the official site here. Some of the latest additions include mentions that Hulu, Crunchyroll, Niconico, ABEMA, and InkyPen cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.


June 4: The website has now updated once again. Testing of over 15,000 Switch 1 third-party games is now finished with roughly a 98 percent success rate. These titles will not have any problems running on Nintendo Switch 2.
