Nintendo Switch 2 DLSS ray tracing

Nintendo has confirmed a couple of key technical points for Switch 2, as we now know officially that it will support DLSS upscaling tech as well as ray tracing.

DLSS has been one of the earlier rumors surrounding the console. Essentially, if a game uses it, that means it can reach a higher resolution without actually hitting that target natively.

Nintendo Switch 2 director Takuhiro Dohta commented on the system being able to use DLSS in a recent interview. Regarding that, he shared the following:

“When it comes to the hardware, it is able to output to a TV at a max of 4K and whether the software developer is going to use that as a native resolution or get it to a smaller rate and an upscale is something that the software developer can choose. And that’s, I think it opens up a lot of options for the software developer to choose from.”

Ray tracing is also now official for Nintendo Switch 2 as well, which can be used on the graphical front. Dohta noted that the system’s chip can support it and it’s another tool for developers.
