Nintendo Switch 2 third-party devs very happy with the console and its tech
Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be receiving a ton of third-party support, and now a couple of developers have discussed their excitement about the console, including its technical capabilities.
Firaxais will be on board with the system at launch thanks to Civilization 7, which will feature new mouse controls. Series executive producer Dennis Shirk, in a recent interview, said the team is “extremely happy” about its horsepower. The port has been in the works since October.
Shirk had plenty of praise as far as working with Nintendo as well, telling Game File:
“Their software development kit is great, the customer support, their developer support, developer relations is great. They knew they wanted Civ on that platform, because it’s such a great showcase for the mouse. And it pairs up so well with our existing PC audience, because we have crossplay.”
Avalanche Software has also planning an updated version of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch 2 for about a year. Jimmie Nelson had this to say:
“We originally started with our Switch version. We got very good results really quickly, but we felt like we could make a higher quality product if we brought in a lot of the high-res assets and raised the resolution, textures, lighting, world streaming.”
Nintendo Switch 2 will be available on June 5, 2025. We have a list of every single game currently planned for the console here.
