Nintendo Switch sales surpass the PS2 in the U.S.
Nintendo Switch has now overtaken the PlayStation 2 in terms of hardware sales in the United States. That’s according to the latest report from Circana, which just went up a few minutes ago.
Total sales of the Nintendo Switch in the U.S. now stand at 46.6 million. It is the second best-selling gaming system in the region, only trailing the DS.
Looking at November 2024 U.S. sales specifically, PlayStation 5 led the way in terms of unit and dollar sales. Nintendo Switch came in second across both measures.
Compared to a year ago, Nintendo Switch sales declined by 3 percent. But as a console that will be eight years old in just a few months, that’s to be expected. It originally launched on March 3, 2017.
In terms of worldwide Nintendo Switch sales, the console currently stands at 146.04 million. The DS comes in at 154.02 million, so it’s now far away from becoming the best-selling Nintendo platform. As for the PS2, that’s at over 160 million units worldwide.
