Nintendo Switch Sports data has references to dodgeball and basketball

Some interesting information has been spotted in a datamine for Nintendo Switch Sports, as it’s been revealed that there are references to dodgeball and basketball in the game’s files.

So far six sports have been confirmed for launch. Soccer, volleyball, bowling, tennis, badminton, and chambara (swordplay) will all be present. Additionally, golf has been confirmed to be arriving for free this fall in a future update.

Some are hoping that Nintendo will follow a model in which it adds new games on a regular basis. However, it’s unclear currently what the basketball and dodgeball references mean in Nintendo Switch Sports’ files. It’s possible that they could point to future additions, but on the other hand, they may not. Sometimes during development certain content is left on the cutting room floor. What we have here could also be meaningless references – there’s unfortunately no surefire way to tell at the moment. If there are more sports on the way, Nintendo will be sure to inform its fans, and we’d be sure to bring you the news as well.

Nintendo Switch Sports will release worldwide on April 29, 2022. Not too long ago, an Online Play Test was held for the game, allowing fans to try out the experience early.
