Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse details characters, Underwater Gathering, Mocking Birds
Square Enix announced Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse last week, and has quickly followed up with more details covering the game’s characters and a couple of minigames – specifically Underwater Gathering and Mocking Birds. We also have a new set of screenshots.
Here’s the full rundown:
Characters
- Shinobu Wakamura: The single most influential person on Kameshima. Although admired for his many contributions to Kameshima’s development, his personality leaves much to be desired with abundant rumors.
- Shotaro Wakamura: The only son of Shinobu Wakamura. A pleasant and sincere young man, he is well regarded by those who know him, often being told that he has been blessed with a variety of talents.
- Tsuyu Minakuchi: Yuza Minakuchi’s grandmother, and a former ama diver. She was one of the best ama divers on Kameshima – especially in her younger days, during which she had a fierce rivalry with Chie Higashiyama.
- Chie Toyama: The de facto leader of the ama divers on Kameshima, she is a highly influential figure on the island. She has displayed a natural talent for diving ever since her days as an apprentice, coming to be known as “Chie the Mermaid” for the deft ease in which she moves through the water.
- Kikuko Tsutsui: A woman born and raised on Kameshima. She is known for her friendly, sociable nature and almost sisterly tendency to look after others.
- Kippei Ikoma: Director of a venture company primarily focused on planning and producing tourism promotion events in Ise City.
- Masaru Ide: A detective from the Mie Prefectural Police. He often happens to be walking nearby whenever incidents occur—something his colleagues frequently tease him about.
Minigames
- Underwater Gathering: Try your hands at underwater gathering as a Kameshimaama diver! Aim to raise your Diver Rank by searching underwater and harvesting sea creatures. Survey your surroundings to approach sea creatures to catch. Beware of running out of oxygen while you’re underwater! Dive and catch sea creatures to earn scores, raise your Diver Rank, and enhance your skills! Your “Gathering Log” will keep a record of your sea harvests.
- Mocking Birds: Much like the previous game, Mocking Birds – stickers that seem to pop up everywhere in the world of Paranormasight – are scattered throughout the main story! How many will you be able to find?
