7 Star Torterra Guide Pokemon Scarlet Violet

The 7 Star Torterra Tera Raid Battle Event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now, and we have a guide for the event. It continues from now until November 17, and then comes back for a second round from November 22 to November 24. This Torterra is Tera Ground, which increases the power of its Earthquake and Headlong Rush attacks. If you’re looking to topple this powerful opponent, have a look at our tips and strategies down below.

As mentioned earlier, 7 Star Torterra is running Tera Ground. This leaves it weak to Water, Ice, and Grass-type moves (ironically). At the beginning of the match, Torterra uses Shell Smash to sharply boost its offensive stats. It then removes negative effects from itself to nullify Shell Smash’s lowered defensive stats. For its standard attacks, Torterra can pick from Earth Power, Wood Hammer, Smack Down, and Earthquake. At around 70% time remaining, Torterra uses Shell Smash once again.

Serperior is a solid counter here, as its Contrary Ability boosts its Sp. Attack every time it uses Leaf Storm. We’d also recommend using a PP Max on Leaf Storm so you can use it as many times as possible. You’ll also need Giga Drain to restore your health as needed, plus Light Screen and the Light Clay item to help your defenses a little bit. 252 EVs in HP and Defense work best here, as it will prompt 7 Star Torterra to hit you with Earth Power which will be made weaker by Light Screen. For nature, a Bold one works well here. Start with Light Screen, and then boost up with Leaf Storm three times. From there, use either Leaf Storm again for more firepower or Giga Drain to restore your health.

It may be difficult to win just with Serperior, however. If you have a partner to play with, have them use a Bold-natured Amoonguss with Effect Spore and an Assault Vest. For moves, all you need is Clear Smog, Giga Drain, and Grass Knot. Use Clear Smog after Torterra uses Shell Smash (it will use it twice per raid) and then keep attacking with Grass Knot (to deal more damage) or Giga Drain (to restore your health). That should be all the support Serperior needs to take down 7 Star Torterra. Make sure both Serperior and Amoonguss are Tera Grass to boost their attack power after Terastallizing.

Were you able to defeat 7 Star Torterra with a different setup we didn’t include here? If so, feel free to share the counter you came up with in the comments down below. If you want to read up on more Pokemon Scarlet and Violet guides, we have a ton of them archived over at our master list.
