Cobalion location guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Today, we’re continuing our coverage of the many Legendary Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC with a Cobalion location guide. As a reminder, you can only catch these Pokemon after you clear the DLC’s main story – they’re unavailable for capture in the main game.
Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion form the Swords of Justice trio introduced in Pokemon Black and White. They’ve also each got their own future Paradox counterparts in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Iron Crown, Iron Boulder, and Iron Leaves, respectively. None of the Swords of Justice are exclusive to either Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet, which means you can catch Cobalion regardless of the version you’re playing.
Cobalion location guide
In order to activate the Cobalion location shown above, you need to have a Cobalion snack in your inventory. After clearing the DLC’s main story, you can speak to an NPC named Snacksworth at Blueberry Academy’s lobby. Every time you clear 10 Solo Quests or 1 Group Quest, Snacksworth will gift you a random Legendary Pokemon’s snack. There’s no way to manipulate it to get the snack you want, so you’ll need to clear lots of Solo and Group Quests within the Terarium until you get the Cobalion snack.
Once you’ve gotten the Cobalion snack, you can find it in North Province Area Two near a cliff. Cobalion has access to Swords Dance plus Sacred Sword, Iron Head, and Close Combat, which means it can become quite the offensive threat if left unchecked. Try putting it to sleep with something like Spore from Breloom before it boosts itself up too much with Swords Dance. As a reminder, Cobalion and the rest of the returning Legendary Pokemon are Shiny locked in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. If you want to catch it in a matching Poke Ball, though, a Net Ball is a good match.
In addition to Cobalion’s location, we have guides available for the rest of the Legendary Pokemon locations in Scarlet and Violet too. You can find our master list of them through this link. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for future guides, too.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Switch, and you can check out the official website here.
