Rock Band gives Wii owners 6 new downloadable tracks including four tracks from classic rock band Boston

Cambridge, Mass. – February 3, 2009 – Harmonix and MTV Games announced today the addition of six new tracks to the Rock Band® Music Store catalog of downloadable content for Wii™ home videogame console from Nintendo. The line up features four tracks from classic rock band Boston including “Hitch a Ride,” “Peace of Mind,” “Smokin’” and “Something About You.”

In addition to the Boston tracks Rock Band 2 Wii fans will also gain access to“Hanging on the Telephone” by Blondie and “Dirty Little Secret” from All-American Rejects.

All six tracks are part of the Rock Band® Music Store catalog of downloadable content already released to owners of Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system. Wii fans can expect a rollout of the previously released downloadable content until the entire back catalogue of more than 550 songs is available. In addition, the regularly scheduled future DLC releases for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 system will also be available for Rock Band 2 Wii owners soon.

Rock Band 2 is available now for Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation®2 systems and the Wii system. The Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and Wii versions support downloadable content.

Downloadable content for Wii is purchased via the in-game Rock Band Music Store using Wii Points purchased through the Wii Shop Channel and can be downloaded to the hard drive of the Wii or to an SD card for additional storage. The tracks stream directly from the SD card for seamless play.

Rock Band and Rock Band 2 are rated “T” for Teen (lyrics, suggestive themes) by the ESRB.
