Rock Band Music Store update next week

Cambridge, Mass. – April 22, 2011 – Harmonix today announced that a three-pack of songs from Roy Orbison and two songs from KISS will be available beginning April 26 in theRock Band 3 Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.

Rock Band provides the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums through the Rock Band music platform, which features more than 800 artists and more than 2,500* tracks via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/songs). Rock Band’s gigantic music library dwarfs that of any other rhythm video game on the market. More than 75 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch Nov. 20, 2007.

We’re adding more Roy Orbison to the Rock Band Music Library next week with a three pack in celebration of the musical legend’s 75th birthday. Orbison is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and was named by Rolling Stone as the No. 13 Greatest Singer of All Time. Roy Orbison: 75th Birthday Packwill feature “Blue Bayou”, “Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)” and “Only the Lonely (Know the Way I Feel)”.

Also in celebration of Orbison’s 75th birthday and monumental career, Monument Records released Roy Orbison: The Monument Singles Collection on April 12. The two CD/one DVD set includes all the A&B sides recorded by Roy Orbison for the groundbreaking Monument label during an electrifying peak from 1959-1966. Restored to pristine mono mixes for the first time since their original 7? vinyl releases, Roy Orbison: The Monument Singles Collection presents The Big O’s core classic catalog the way it’s meant to sound, plus the first-ever DVD release of Orbison performing nine songs from “The Monument Concert 1965.” For more information and to get your copy, please click here.

Beginning next week, fans can play live versions of two of KISS’s greatest hits – “Rock and Roll All Nite (Live)” and “Strutter (Live)”. “Strutter”, from the band’s 1974 debut album, was featured on the Guitar Hero II soundtrack. “Rock and Roll All Nite” was originally released on KISS’s 1975 album, Dressed to Kill. A live version of the song reached No. 12 on the Billboard singles chart and became the first of six of KISS’s Top 20 songs in the 1970s. As always, songs available as downloadable content for Rock Band 3 feature five-button guitar and bass parts, drums, Pro Drums, and keys, Pro Keys and harmonies, where applicable. Some songs also feature Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades available for an additional $0.99 upgrade download.
