Shironeko New Project won’t launch in 2020

Last July, the Shironeko New Project (White Cat New Project) action RPG was announced for Switch. We’ve heard relatively little about the game since then, but producer Hiroki Asai finally provided an update during a broadcast a short while ago.

While the original goal was to launch Shironeko New Project in 2020, that will no longer be happening. Asai did not provide a new release window.

Asai said during the broadcast:

“While development was moving forward with the goal of a 2020 release, the truth is that it will not meet the quality fans expect in its current condition. While we could have continued like this, we don’t want to release something as treasured as Shironeko Project half-baked. We want to review the game from planning and bring it up to a sufficient level of quality.”

Asai himself will be leaving Colopl in the future to go freelance. However, he will work on Shironeko Project as a “Neko Ambassador” (publicity producer).
