4th May 2010 –Sin and Punishment originally released in Japan in 2000 for the Nintendo 64 was heralded with critical acclaim, praised for its relentless action and forged a great legacy behind it. European players were given a treat when this cult game was made available to download through Virtual Console on Wii years later as part of the Hanabi Festival – a special event which offers European players the opportunity to download classic games which have previously never been released in Europe. Since then anticipation has been building amongst fans of the series for the next instalment. This week Wii owners can expect explosive, exhilarating run-and-gun action as Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies launches across Europe on 7th May 2010.
A rapid-fire arcade action game following the tradition of Japanese developer, Treasure, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies pits two characters, Isa Jo (male) and Kachi (Female) against seemingly endless hordes of attacks by violent creatures from the dimension – fourth earth.
Players can choose to control one of 2 characters which each have their own specific skills. Isa Jo can lock on enemies with his gun and shoot them down. Kachi can also lock on enemies (although the lock on method will differ from Isa Jo) and give you access to a powerful bomb which will help you to get out of tough situations. Both characters also have access to a gun which is fired to attack enemies from afar or if you prefer you can use your sword which will allow you to engage in close melee combat and repel some of the projectiles heading your way. Whichever character you prefer to embody you’ll certainly be fighting a battle for humanity as you navigate yourself through a frantic action (and even fly above the ground if necessary) to crush the waves of enemy attacks.
Your aim will be to survive seemingly impossible situations through breathtaking action sequences spanning over amazing sceneries. Challenge myriads of vicious enemies, including several gigantic Bosses known as “Commanders” which are continuously filling up your whole screen. Through the frantic chaos of the battlefield, you will quickly notice patterns in enemy assaults, allowing you to anticipate their attacks which will help you formulate a strategic edge in your duel for Planet Earth. Those who understand enemy patterns the most will not only improve their chances of survival, but also be rewarded with high scores.
Once a high score is achieved, players are able to upload their best scores for every level to an international ranking* and leader board using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and compare how their skills measure against the high scores of other players to truly to determine who is the best!
