Super Mario Bros. Wonder online support detailed
Super Mario Bros. Wonder will feature online functionality, Nintendo has announced. A bunch of information just dropped during today’s Nintendo Direct.
Live Player Shadows
One of the major features of the game are Live Player Shadows. Other players will appear on the world map as ghosts and in courses – these are actually people enjoying the game in real time. You can come back to life by bumping into a live player shadow here as well. Additionally, it’s possible to send greetings and share in-game items.
Standees
Standees, which can revive ghosts, can be placed in courses as well to help other players. These can be purchased from shops to add more to your collection – quite a bit were teased during today’s Nintendo Direct.
Heart Points
Come into contact with a player or their standee to sees their username and Heart Points, which show how much they’ve helped others. Heart Points can be earned by reviving ghosts, gifting items, and reaching the goal together.
Friend Races
You can play with friends by creating a room or finding a room. In a shared room, you can see which courses they’re playing, enter levels together, and race through certain courses. You can start a race by hitting the race block. While some races simply requiring reaching the goal, others ask you to grab a Wonder Seed or defeat a boss.
Can You Play Online with Friends?
The quick answer here is no. If you’re interested in tackling the full campaign in a more traditional manner, you’ll need to resort to local play. If you go that route, up to four people can play on the same Switch system.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be available for Switch on October 20, 2023.
