For those now playing Super Mario Party Jamboree, we’ve got a new guide telling you how to access the unlockable characters.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is available now, and Pauline and Ninji were revealed and advertised for the game well before launch. They’re also the game’s only two unlockables characters, while the rest of the already-confirmed roster is available from the start. At the beginning of Super Mario Party Jamboree, you’ll need to view a long cutscene involving Kamek setting things up. After the lengthy cutscene has completed, you can head into the Hot Air Balloon to easily unlock Pauline and Ninji. Here’s how to unlock both Super Mario Party Jamboree unlockable characters.

Once you’re in the Hot Air Balloon, all you have to do to unlock the Super Mario Party Jamboree special characters is find them on the overview screen with all the islands. Once you’ve spotted either Ninji or Pauline, zoom in with the X button and they’ll ask to join the party. Ninji is standing on a faraway cliff just north of Goomba Lagoon, while Pauline is on an island to the left of Minigame Bay. There’s no special criteria for making them appear, either – you can do this less than 20 minutes after first starting the game. With the unlock criteria being so easy, Pauline and Ninji aren’t really a secret, but more like an extra bonus.

You can unlock additional boards and decorations for Party Plaza via the Party-Planning Trek, which is a single player mode accessed by talking to Kamek in the Party Plaza. However, no characters are locked behind this mode, and you don’t have to do anything in it in order to be able to find Pauline and Ninji hiding in Super Mario Party Jamboree’s overworld.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is available now for Switch, and you can check out the official site here. Read about the game’s day one update here.
