Nintendo Switch

As it’s now March 3 in Japan, Switch is officially three years old. The console launched around the world on March 3, 2017.

Switch has been an extremely successful console for Nintendo so far, especially following the Wii U – which many would agree was a disappointment. The system has already sold over 50 million units worldwide, surpassing the Wii U, GameCube, N64, and SNES. It’s just a matter of time until other platforms like the NES are overtaken as well.

Switch has been home to many fantastic titles. It launched with Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which many players feel is one of the best games of all time. Other standouts include Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Pokemon Sword/Shield. You also can’t forget about the unique experiences Nintendo has offered in Ring Fit Adventure and Nintendo Labo. We haven’t named everything here though, and that’s without even touching on third-party releases.

Given Switch’s continued success, the system should be staying around for the long-term. It’ll be exciting to see what it brings us in the years ahead.
