Switch controller update 15.0.0

Switch received its new 15.0.0 firmware update last night, and tying in with that, there’s a controller-specific update as well. Seemingly this is just for the Pro Controller – there does not appear to be anything new with the Joy-Con.

When Nintendo provides a controller update, it typically doesn’t say what it includes. However, those that have dug into version 15.0.0 have found that the Pro Controller Bluetooth firmware was updated.

Update your Switch Pro Controller by visiting system settings. Then scroll down to the “Controller and Sensors” tab and choose the “Update Controllers” option. It shouldn’t be long of a wait for the process to finish.

Nintendo’s official patch notes for the new update say that the location of the Bluetooth Audio menu within System Settings was moved, screenshots can now be taken in the Nintendo Switch Online application, and stability improvements were implemented. But thanks to datamining, we have a few more details. Specifically, the handling for Ethernet adapters was moved to its own dedicated OS module, various error messages were added / changed, a pop-up was added for attempting to exceed the max headphone volume while the limiter is on, bad words for Mainland China were updated, the time zone database (zoneinfo) was updated to the latest from ICANN, and text related to Australian and New Zealand privacy laws was added.
