Symphonia release date set for December, new trailer [update: new date]

November 4: Symphonia, the side-scrolling platformer from Headup and Sunny Peak, just secured a release date. The two sides have it pinned down for December 5, 2024.

We originally heard about Symphonia back in August. Headup was only committing to a general 2024 launch window at the time, however.

In Symphonia, you take on the role of Philemon, a masked musician equipped only with a violin and bow. They use the bow in the game’s platforming elements to navigate the world while playing the violin to bring ancient mechanisms of the world back to life. The gorgeous world of Symphonia is hand-drawn and traditionally animated and features a powerful score.

December 7: The game has been delayed on Nintendo Switch, and is now targeting an early 2025 launch. Read the official statement below.

It’s been a dream come true to work on the development of Symphonia these last five years and preparing for the upcoming release. We are so happy you have enjoyed the demo, and we are eager to get the game into your hands. With the holidays coming up, there are less working days to pivot and adjust during the console submissions process. As a result, we will sadly have to postpone the Nintendo Switch launch until the beginning of 2025. We’re disappointed about making the Switch fans wait just a little bit longer, but we know it will be worth it. We will be showing up for Symphonia until everyone is able to purchase the game on their platform of choice, and melt away into its world.

January 14: We now have a new release date for January 23, 2025. It will be available digitally on the Nintendo eShop.
