Gamescom 2021

Gamescom 2021 was previously announced as a hybrid event, with the hope that a portion of the show could be held in-person. Those plans have now changed. Show organizers confirmed today that Gamescom 2021 is going all digital once again.

Today’s announcement explains the decision:

Gamescom 2021 has long been designed as a hybrid event. Originally, those initial plans were confirmed last September. Additional details were provided today.

Here’s the full rundown:

Gamescom 2020 was just held last week, but we already have preliminary information about next year’s show. It’s confirmed to take place between August 25 and August 29. We don’t have all of the details just yet, but Gamescom 2021 is planned as a hybrid event – meaning organizers are hoping things will be safe enough for an in-person component.

As for this year’s Gamescom, it was entirely digital. It’s been announced that over two million people tuned in for Gamescom: Opening Night Live, which is a fourfold increase from last year’s premiere.
