Twenty years after it was cancelled, Navinosuke: The Yo-Kai Buster from the developer of Metal Slug is coming to Nintendo Switch.
Navinosuke: The Yo-Kai Buster was originally slated for the Game Boy Advance, but the plug was pulled prior to launch. The 2D pixel art RPG sounded pretty ambitious – initially, the game would have played with a GPS with players walking around to encounter yo-kai. That idea was eventually cut, but it sounds quite similar to Pokemon GO before that mobile game became a worldwide hit.
While Navinosuke: The Yo-Kai Buster missed out on its Game Boy Advance debut, it’s finally getting a proper release when it heads to Nintendo Switch in 2026 thanks to Kohachi Studio – and English will be supported. You’ll play as a young onmyoji-in-training as you meet and battle over 150 yo-kai in a strategy-driven Japanese fantasy world.
