Tales of Xillia Remastered additions improvements

Tales of Xillia Remastered isn’t too far away now, and if you’re wondering what’s new for this new release, a helpful list covers all of the new features and improvements.

It looks like the team put in quite a bit of work here. Highlights include availability of the Grade Shop during your first playthrough, autosaves, an enemy encounter switching function, and dash more.

The full rundown is as follows:

  • Grade Shop available from the first playthrough: You can use the Grade Shop from the start of the first playthrough of the game with 5000 GRADE, which is enough to buy all items. Some purchased items can be switched ON/OFF from Menu > System > “Grade Shop Settings”. (Items related to data transfer such as levels and full chat unlock cannot be purchased on the first playthrough.)
  • Added 50% off items to the Grade Shop: A “50% Off Items” item has been added to the Grade Shop, where all items can be purchased at half price.
  • Includes downloadable content from the original version: It includes a large amount of DLC from the original version. You can use it by activating it from Menu > Items > EXTRA. (However, some content is excluded.)
  • Added autosave function: Auto-saves will occur at specific times, such as after moving to a new map or after an event has ended.
  • Added enemy encounter switching function: Menu > Config > Battle “Encounter Settings” has been added. If it is OFF, no battle will occur even if you come into contact with an enemy symbol in the field or dungeon. (This does not apply to event battles.)
  • Added retry function when losing a normal battle: Even if you lose a normal battle and get a Game Over, you can rematch by selecting “Retry” from the Game Over menu.
  • Added battle-related subtitles: Subtitles have been added to the dialogue displayed during battle and results. You can switch the display on or off from Menu > Config > Battle “Subtitle Display.”
  • Added dash mode: While holding down the corresponding button, you can move at a “dash” that is faster than the normal “run.” You can also switch between “run” and “dash” by pressing the corresponding button. (If you have winged boots, your speed will increase even more.)
  • Added destination icons to each map: Destinations in the main story are displayed with a “★” icon on the world map (list), location map, minimap, and field. The remaining distance to the destination is also displayed. You can switch the display from Configuration > “Destination Display” in the menu.
  • Added “!” icons for sub-events to the location map and minimap: Characters who will trigger a sub-event when you talk to them will have an exclamation mark on the location map and minimap. The destination of the sub-event selected by the player will also have an icon on the world map (list). (Sub-events that have a limited occurrence period will be displayed with an hourglass icon instead of an exclamation mark.)
  • Added display of each item on the minimap and location map: Icons for unacquired “Treasure Chests,” “Exploration Bags/Exploration Points,” and “Aifread’s Treasure” have been added to the minimap and location map in addition to those already acquired. You can switch the display from Menu > Config > “Icon Display.”
  • Added auto-skip for events: Menu > Config > “Event Skip” has been added. When turned ON, events that have already been viewed will be automatically skipped.
  • Added skip function by pressing and holding the button: You can skip events or long chats by pressing and holding the appropriate button.
  • Added a “NEW!” icon to newly acquired or learned items and techniques. When you acquire or learn a new item, technique, skill, etc., or when new items arrive in the shop, a “NEW!” icon will appear next to the item on the menu screen.
  • Added display of cooking effects while they are active: By pressing the corresponding button at the top of the menu, you can check the effects of the currently active dishes.
  • Added item description for the Jet Black Feathers exchange.
  • You can move to the title from the menu. Menu > System > “Return to Title” has been added. Selecting this will take you to the title screen.
  • You can move to the top menu from any level within the menu. By pressing the corresponding button in the menu, you can instantly move from that level to the top of the menu, regardless of the level you are on. (The same applies to the shop menu.)
  • Added bonus material bulk selection function: When you press the appropriate button on the Shop Development Material Delivery screen, all materials that qualify as bonus materials for that shop will be selected.
  • Added display of status changes when changing equipment
  • Relaxed the judgment of items such as treasure chests: When a treasure chest, exploration bag, exploration point, or Aifread’s Treasure comes within a certain range, the “Open” or “Examine” button will appear, and you will be able to acquire the item even if you are not facing the direction of the item.
  • Added camera distance switching function on the map: Menu > Config > “Map Camera Distance” has been added.
The camera distance on maps such as fields and dungeons can be changed to three levels (close/normal/far).
  • Added the ability to customize map control keys: You can customize the keys not only for battle but also for map operation by going to Menu > Config > “Button Customization.”
  • Added screen brightness adjustment function: Added the “Brightness Adjustment” option to Menu > Configuration. Screen brightness can be adjusted in 21 levels.
  • Adjusting effects: Some effects have been adjusted and brushed up.
  • Added overall volume adjustment function: Menu > Config > Sound > “Overall Volume” has been added. This
allows you to set the overall volume of BGM, SE, voice, and movies.
  • Added audio language switching function: Added the “Audio Language” option to Menu > Config > Sound. You can now switch between Japanese and English audio.
  • Correction of typos and omissions: Some typos and omissions in the text have been corrected.
  • Some expressions have been changed from the original version: In addition, we have made minor adjustments to the descriptions of some items.
  • Battle BGM Settings: You can set the following BGM by going to Menu > Config > “Battle BGM Settings/Selection”. Exclusive BGM for the original costume DLC, activated from Menu > Items > EXTRA (BGM from the Battle BGM Pack activated from Menu > Items > EXTRA) [Only applicable to those who purchased the Deluxe Edition or Deluxe Upgrade Pack.]
