Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse Collection

Today, Limited Run Games announced that it’s giving Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse Collection a worldwide release.

The Nintendo Switch package just came to Japan in September 2024. It includes Includes both Tenshi no Uta, and Tenshi no Uta 2: Datenshi no Sentaku, all on one cartridge.

Here’s an official overview:

The Tenshi no Uta series is regarded as one of the finest RPGs on the PC Engine, distinguished by its rare use of Celtic mythology and a central theme of romantic love between a man and a woman.

Its many majestic background music tracks – perfectly matched to a world rich in visual scenes and emotionally engaging storytelling – are truly unforgettable masterpieces that deserve careful listening.

Beyond the main story, the game also offers plenty of replay value, such as searching for rare weapons unique to each character. This depth of optional content, combined with engaging gameplay, ensures players never lose interest.

Tenshi no Uta: The Angel’s Verse

In a distant, ancient world, the protagonist Kearu sets out on a journey to rescue Cleia, a maiden of the celestial realm and his fiancée, who has been abducted by monsters. Unbeknownst to him, however, this event is tied to a sinister plot—the resurrection of the Demon King Lucifel, which threatens the end of the world itself.

Innovative features such as a party system of up to five members were groundbreaking at the time, while the bittersweet bond between Kearu and Cleia leaves a lasting emotional impression.

Tenshi no Uta 2: The Fallen Angel’s Choice

Set in another world 100 years after the events of the first game, the sequel follows Fate, who meets Lianna, a mysterious girl suffering from amnesia, and embarks on a journey to help her. In a parallel earthly realm beyond dimensions, a new battle against the forces of darkness begins.

Characters from the first game – including Kearu – return, and together with iconic lines and memorable music, the story delivers a heavy, emotionally charged narrative that maintains strong continuity with its predecessor and deeply moves the player.
