best miracles Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

If you’re wondering which Miracles would be the best to spend your Glory on in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, we’ve got you covered here.

Unless you’ve purchased the Mitama DLC, Glory is easily the scarcest resource you’ll have in the game, which is obtained sporadically in small amounts. You’ll have to be very selective about which Miracles you purchase, so it’s important to pick the ones which will give you the most value, especially during your first playthrough.

How to get more Glory and Miracles

Glory is obtained from two different sources: Glory crystals, which are rewards for defeating Nigi Mitama, subquests, or from treasure boxes, and Amalgams, white crystals that you can sometimes find when exploring. Small Glory Crystals yield 50 Glory each, and Large Glory Crystals yield 100, with Amalgams having a varying (but typically greater) amount. As Miracles can cost hundreds of Glory at a time, it’s very unlikely that unless you have the corresponding Mitama DLC you will be unable to afford to buy everything.

It’s important to note that you won’t have access to many Miracles right away either. In order to unlock stronger Miracles, you’ll need to defeat the Abscesses scattered across each of Da’at’s areas. These will always be clearly marked on your map by a red symbol, and you should aim to defeat these as a priority when exploring a new area.

Below, we’ll go over each category of Miracles in turn, and which ones are the best to invest in.

Best Supremacy Miracles

If you’re wondering what the best Supremacy Miracles are to buy in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, we’d suggest picking up Deathly Aura as soon as it becomes available. This skill goes up to tier IV, and opens up the possibility of cornered demons begging for their lives. This gives you the option to recruit them without going through negotiation, or demanding Macca, Essence, and finally Incense at the highest tier.

Magatsuhi Dispersion is another Supremacy Miracle that you’ll want to pick up immediately, as it can prematurely end an enemy’s Omagatoki effect in battle – as you probably know from using these skills yourself, this can very quickly turn the tide of battle if used at the right time, and cutting your enemy off from being able to decimate your entire party in a single turn is a very good idea, particularly in the case of bosses who will abuse this to get multiple attacks if left unchecked.

Knowledge of Tools, which you’ll acquire a bit later, is the best Supremacy Miracle and one you’ll want to pick up immediately. Having your demons able to use items in battle means you’ll be less reliant on the Nahobino or one of your other human party members (who will not be with you all the time) to recover their MP in particular.

Best Doctrine Miracles

Divine Amalgamation is the best Doctrine Miracle, and one that you absolutely need to purchase as soon as it becomes available. The Nahobino is the only party member you cannot swap out, and if he dies, it’s Game Over. Being able to change his affinity to resist attacks bosses are using is crucial to keeping him alive. Art of Essences is also extremely useful, as it unlocks stronger skills from Essences, which you’ll be using a lot later in the game to build a better party.

Healer’s Hospitality, Merchant’s Hospitality, and Summoner’s Hospitality are all useful Miracles if you find yourself using these services a lot, so you might want to consider investing in these if you’re often short on Macca.

Best Awakening Miracles

Continuing on with the best Awakening Miracles in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Demon Proficiency and Divine Proficiency should be your priority here: more skill slots for your demon allies and the Nahobino will be critical to success. These two Miracles go up to level IV, and should be your priority as soon as you unlock them.

Divine Garrison goes up to level IX, and investing in the first two or three levels of this later into the game isn’t a bad idea either, giving you more flexibility in battle if you need to swap out your demons for ones that are a better match-up against enemies and bosses.

Best Cosmos Miracles

Finally, for the best Cosmos Miracles, we’d suggest investing only in Almighty Mastery (which goes up to Almighty Mastery V) for your first playthrough. You will likely be swapping your Nahobino’s skills around a lot over the course of the game with Essence fusion, and the damage boost gained from these only becomes noticeable at higher levels, and will not be useful in most situations when an enemy isn’t weak to that element. You will probably want to have an Almighty skill on your Nahobino at all times for neutral damage however, making this a solid pick if you want to invest in Cosmos Miracles.
