The Genji and the Heike Clans is this week’s Arcade Archives game on Switch
Hamster has revealed that side-scrolling hack-and-slash title The Genji and the Heike Clans is the latest entry to their growing Arcade Archives label on Switch. Check out some details on the game below the break.
Here is some information about The Genji and the Heike Clans from International Arcade Museum:
The game was developed and published by Namco for Japanese arcade release in 1986 under the name Genpai Toma Den. It would remain exclusive until 1997, when the game was localized for Europe and North America in the Namco Museum collection with the name The Genji and the Heike Clans.
This game allows for one player to play at a time, but does offer a multiplayer mode where turns are taken. It is a side-scrolling hack and slash where players control a samurai who came back from the dead for revenge against the Genji clan. There are three phases to gameplay: the first is where the player character is small and has to face a variety of threats from all directions, the second is where the character is larger and fights one-on-one with another opponent, and the third is a top-down segment where the samurai has to fight off enemies in the land of the dead.
Arcade Archives The Genji and the Heike Clans is scheduled to launch digitally tomorrow on October 7, and will cost $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29 on the Switch eShop.
