Virizion location guide in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Our coverage of the many, many returning Legendary Pokemon locations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet continues today with a Virizion location guide. In this game, returning Legendary Pokemon can only be accessed via the Indigo Disk DLC – they’re unavailable for capture in the base game.
Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion form the Swords of Justice trio introduced in the Unova games. They’ve also each got Paradox counterparts in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Iron Leaves, Iron Boulder, and Iron Crown, respectively. Usually, Pokemon with future Paradox counterparts are exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet. That’s not the case here, though – Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion can be found in both versions of the game.
Virizion location guide
Just like the rest of the Legendary Pokemon accessed via the Indigo Disk DLC, Virizion only appears on Paldea’s map if you have the Virizion snack in your inventory. You get snacks from Snacksworth, an NPC who appears outside of Blueberry Academy after clearing the main story. Each time you clear either 1 Solo Quest or 10 Group Quest, you will receive a random snack. If you’re specifically going for Virizion, you’ll have to keep grinding quests until you get the Virizion snack. Once you do, your Virizion location spawns in the area shown above.
More specifically, the location for Virizion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is at the very northeast edge of Tagtree Thicket in northeast Paldea. It appears at Level 70, and it knows Swords Dance, Sacred Sword, Leaf Blade, and Close Combat. Something like Sap Sipper Azumarill or Gholdengo works well here, as they both resist or are immune to some of these moves. If you’re looking to catch Virizion in a matching Poke Ball, try using a Nest Ball or Friend Ball. Keep in mind that all the returning Legendary Pokemon are Shiny locked in this game, so they’ll never be Shiny no matter how many times you soft reset.
In addition to Virizion’s location, we have guides available for the rest of the Legendary Pokemon locations too. You can find our master list of them through this link. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for future guides, too.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Switch, and you can access the official website here.
