Xbox has no restrictions in place for more games on Nintendo platforms

While Xbox did this previously, 2024 marked the year when the company made its biggest push yet regarding releasing its games on other platforms. Nintendo Switch benefited from the approach in the form of Grounded and Pentiment on the console.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now briefly weighed in on Microsoft’s approach going forward. In an interview with Bloomberg, while discussing bringing more games to Nintendo and PlayStation, he said that there are no “red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not.'” He added that no decisions have been made about the next Halo given how early in development that game is.

Xbox did also extended Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves to PlayStation – but not Nintendo Switch. However, one has to think that this was only due to technical limitations. With Nintendo gearing up for its next console, one would think that Microsoft will be on board with additional support thanks to the extra power it should provide.

Also, don’t forget that Nintendo and Microsoft have a lengthy deal in place for Call of Duty. Although we’ve yet to see anything come from that, once again, Switch 2 is where we should be seeing the series returning to Nintendo platforms.
