Ys: Memories of Celceta reveals new Nintendo Switch version
A new version of Ys: Memories of Celceta is in development for Nintendo Switch, Falcom revealed during a shareholders meeting today. The game launches Spring 2025 in Japan.
Ys: Memories of Celceta, an action RPG, first launched for the PlayStation Vita in 2012 followed by the west a year later. It has since made it to a couple of other platforms.
Here’s an overview of the game:
In celebration of the Ys series’ 25th anniversary, Falcom revisits the land and characters of Japanese cult favorite Ys IV, which was outsourced to multiple third-party developers twenty years ago and never officially released in English. But rather than simply remaking their only outsourced title among the main-line Ys games, Falcom has taken a brand new approach, changing and framing the story of Ys IV within an all-new tale of conspiracy, deception and mystery. Featuring an updated version of the party system from Ys Seven, as well as the largest and most varied overworld in Falcom history, Ys: Memories of Celceta brings a greater sense of adventure to the series than has ever been seen before.
Key Features
- Explore the Biggest Overworld in Ys Series History: The Celcetan “sea of trees” is so big, every other Ys overworld to date could fit inside it multiple times over. Exploration is aided by a highly robust mapping system with customizable waypoints and clear, detailed icons.
- Adventure Forth with a Party of Allies: The party system from Ys Seven makes its triumphant return, but with a host of fan-requested updates. Flash-guarding has been greatly expanded upon, party AI is fully configurable and party members now have their own unique abilities that aid them in exploration and combat.
- Throw Down the Gauntlet in Boss Rush Mode: Boss Rush made makes a comeback, this time allowing Adol to go it alone or – for the first time ever – engage the enemy with a full party of friends.
