The outlet goes over graphical improvements as well. Nintendo incorporated aspects such as higher resolution textures for a better-looking experience.
Here’s the full roundup
– Original Switch games target 900p when docked
– Switch 2 boosts it to 1440p
– Can drop top 810p in the most extreme cases, such as moving about with Ultrahand
– For Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2, resolution will at times suddenly tank to a low value
– For a few frames during a camera view change, the frame flips to a blurrier 810p output before quickly restoring to native 1440p
– Handheld resolution has a range of 648p to 1080p
– Anti-aliasing rangers from ineffective to virtually non-existent
– Evidence suggests FSR1 upscaling tech is still being used

– Textures across the environment replaced with higher resolution assets
– This leads to a higher file size
– Grass, brick work, materials on towers, shield decals feature a sharper design
– Texture filtering still on a low setting
– Increased resolution of nearby shadows on Switch 2
– However, shadows flicker quite a bit
– Thicker, fuller ambient occlusion effect on Switch 2
