Koei Tecmo announced a western release date for Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings today. In North America, it’ll be out on March 27. The European release is planned for March 30.

Continue on below for more information about Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings.

This next installment to the loved Atelier franchise celebrates the 20th Anniversary for the franchise and summons players to become the best alchemist ever by following the tale of the apprentice alchemist twins Lydie and Suelle. While working with their father to make their atelier the best in town, the outgoing twins surprisingly discover colorful worlds by jumping into magical paintings and soon find that the mysterious paintings hold the residual thoughts of their deceased mother. Traveling through different paintings reveals vivid worlds for the twins – from the light tones of the ethereal ‘Heavenly Flower Garden’, with the falling rain of stars, to the gloomy hues of the not so delightful Halloween-inspired ‘The Spooky Forest’.

Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings also includes appearances from the protagonists of the previous titles – Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book and Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey. The adventurous Firis, her protective older sister Liane, the inquisitive Sophie, and her friendly alchemy teacher Plachta are all back to help Lydie and Suelle fulfil their dream to run the best atelier in the country. Fans will also be pleased to see other familiar faces returning in this brand-new tale, such as Ilmeria, who has now taken the role of a teacher for the new alchemists!

KOEI TECMO America is granting a first look into new character designs, never before seen magical paintings and exciting bonus content available through pre-order via a set of new screenshots and artwork.

Hopefully it performs better than Nights of Azure 2.

I’m guessing you mean performance as in frame rate, but I’m just wondering if this might be coming out around the same time as Octopath, which might hurt its performance sales wise…

Releasing NoA2 on the same day as SMO wasn’t too clever either, even if they are completely different genres.

Yes I was referring to framerate. It unfortunately has many drops in FPS especially when there are a bunch of enemies and particle effects on the screen.

I know, it doesn’t really bother me all that much though. Not as much as confirm and cancel being mapped to the wrong buttons anyway… And I’ve had the game crash on me 3 times now, while in the base. So yeah, some further patching would be nice.

I had just beaten Valderossa, which was a very painful fight and took me several tries. The moment I get back to the Hotel, the game crashes… It took a lot of effort to not break the controller at that point.

Hah, same here, but with Veruschka…

  • Looks good I might try it out since I’m a RPG fanboy
