We all saw this coming. Unfortunate for those that liked it, but I personally never used it.

    • Devlind

Unless you played offline or turned Miiverse off from the get go, you likely used it, albeit indirectly. Splatoon, Wind Waker, Mario Maker and Mario 3D World used Miiverse a lot and did it seamlessly.

      • Vigilante_blade

Only for Mario Maker because it was forced. I did not want to however.

    • Leonard Norwood Jr.

Agreed. It just means people who still uses has that much time left to mess around with Miiverse as much as possible. There’ll still be online multiplayer, but thinking about the Nintendo Wii and DS online that shut down in 2014. I better get as much as I can.

  • chancetime

    Good night, sweet prince.

  • TalesOfBS

Where are all the angry fanboys to replied to me saying i was hating on Nintendo because this would take years?

    • jimmy

Nowheres because nobody pays any attention to you, you’re unimportant

      • Dani.SF-MB

        Cruel lol.

      • Vigilante_blade

I pay attention. And you responded to him. You noticed him as well.

      • TalesOfBS

A miserable blind Nintendo sheep with no arguments to defend his large corporation scr*wing up his own consumers.
Ah there are the the fanboys, all in the upvote circle jrk. As expected from the sheeps on this site.

        • jimmy

Dude stop mumbling, no one can understand you when you mumble

          • TalesOfBS

Enjoy being muted in disqus’s new toxicity filter blind drone.

          • jimmy

There you go again, enunciate your words dude

    • Kangaroos instinctively leap logs. Yellow oranges undertake risks so everyone licks fences.
(Put together the first letter of each word.)

      • Addy

        Don’t say such silly things.

  • キロ

I had some fun drawing on it in the early days, but slowly stopped participating. xD It was nice for screenshots though!

  • AquaBat

Oh but how will we be able to get those weekly 10 My Nintendo Platinum PoAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I couldn’t even say that without laughing

Wait, I thought TVii and Wii U Chat already ended services. Am I missing something?

    • Luigi Kirby

Wii U chat has not ended. TVii, yes, but not in Japan.

    • JasonBall

      *30

  • moviereviewrsports

I don’t care anyone said Miiverse is basically Nintendo version of Steam Community Hub. Miiverse is a cool app. You can post screenshots, draw, tips and spoilers. Also indie devs can communicate with gamers. R.I.P Miiverse

  • Adrian Brown

Man, I don’t know why but I had the strange feeling that they’d announce the end of Miiverse this week. It sucks to be right 🙁

  • Kenshin0011

Nintendo’s best scratch-made online gaming network service draws its last breath after years of being slowly smothered by its own creators….

Seriously, Miiverse was a great thing that could have been revamped to run buttery smooth on Switch, with quick friend inviting and chat messages….but no. Nintendo refuses to genuinely embrace online gaming.

    • Tlink7

Can’t have proper online gaming… the web is filled with pedophiles after all! *eye roll*

      • jimmy

        Sadly it is though :/

        • Tlink7

Doesn’t stop literally every other internet service though. Just add an age requirement and done

    • Jack Red

I think they mainly ditched Miiverse as a Switch release due to already having the ability to post images on Twitter and Facebook.

      • R.Z.

They did that for the free viral advertising, not so much for their userbase.

  • Roto Prime
    • Carlos

      Somebody really likes water.

  • TruExtent

I just noticed this tidbit through Google translate’s effort in the link included in the Twitter post:

“In addition, due to the termination of the service, we will offer a service that you can download your own post (* 1) you sent to “Miiverse” on the
web version “Miiverse” for a limited time only. Details will be announced within “Miiverse”.”

So maybe we’ll have an easy way to save our old post that we care about? I know I have several drawings and things I’d like to keep a hold of.

  • Hidden Flare

just sad…Offically the end of a service that was my first point of communicating online. Sign guess I’ll save my goodbyes but miiverse did a good job when it could. Goodbye miiverse.

  • Dylan W

Oh well, here’s to the end of an era. R.I.P. Miiverse 2012-2017.

  • Luigi Kirby

For anyone who needs the official English source, here it is:http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27324

  • Adrian Brown

    Remember this? It was awesome.

  • Zeebor

And so ends the greatest social network there ever was.

Do not cry, for it is not what it would have wanted. Let is remember the good times.

Splat Tim. The smash stage that told you your main sucked. All the penises.

    Good night, sweet prince.

  • Supporter

Oh man. I am sad to hear a date for Miiverse’s end. I hope it’s archived at least. It will be missed.

  • Chaos_Knight

Er…I thought TVii ended awhile ago. Or was that only Europe from what I heard?

    • Tlink7

It never existed in the EU to begin with xD

    • Triforce of the Gods

I’m pretty sure it ended in the Americas already.

  • William Alexander

Please put video chatting on the switch

    • SpectralDynamite

      Impossible.

  • Well… this affects Splatoon 1 and Mario Maker so much 🙁

  • Crimson Hat

One of the best things Nintendo has ever done is getting killed off. The worst thing now is there is no good way to take screenshots and save them to a computer via your own posts.

    • R.Z.

You can get your post history sent to you. Also if you want to do it manually you can do screen caps from the web browser version.

  • awng782

    Inevitable.
    Never doubt dataminers.

    • Tlink7

Exactly. Once something has been data-mined, it is very likely to be real

      • Busterblade

Unless they take note, and then change it out of spite xD

  • JasonBall

    Wtf I’m so pissed

  • Reggie

It doesn’t feel that long ago that Miiverse was first introduced. I rarely ever used it, but I know people enjoyed it and it was nice to have a community of sorts. I wish a spiritual successor would be introduced, but it doesn’t seem like it.

  • SpectralDynamite

They had better be reconsidering bringing it to Switch. Miiverse was great for what it was. Don’t just take that away from us.

  • Blake Good

…and nothing of value was lost!

Seriously, serves them right since they wouldn’t do jack$hit when I was harassed on there, a couple of times and they even deleted my post where I said that IGN mods are a-holes and it wasn’t even the full word, [email protected]!

    • Roto Prime

Your so angry it is adorable lol

    • Evan Gustavson

That’s on you. You ought to know how seriously Nintendo takes family friendliness.
They may go overboard with it, but you should’ve known that before you posted! That makes it entirely your bad!

      • Blake Good

That’s what’s wrong with today’s world. Everything to be f*cking PC!

        • ChuckyGuy98

Says the guy who always whines about M-Rated games and violence in media all the time so you’re a hypocrite for that. Also, Nintendo has always been a family friendly company and seeing as how you talk like you didn’t know that maybe you aren’t much of a Nintendo fan after all.

    • ChuckyGuy98

“harassed” or more like you acted like an angry child and people call you out for it and you call that “harassment” since you like to play the “victim” card or you are so blind to see your wrong doings that you believe you did nothing wrong (which you have) and everyone is against you

    • ChuckyGuy98

Also, how you described it is basically the same description on the day you’l pass away “nothing of value was lost”

    • Do I even matter?

      Everybody has been burned before
      Everybody knows the pain
Anyone in this place can tell you to your face
Why you shouldn’t try to love someone

      Everybody knows it never works
      Everybody knows and me
I know that door that shuts just before
You get to the dream you see

I know it all too well how to turn, how to run
How to hide behind a bitter wall of blue
But you die inside if you chose to hide
So I guess instead I’ll love you

  • Vive

    Y cant Metroid crawl?

  • Ghirahim

Sad day. I wish we had Miiverse on the Switch.

  • Tlink7

RIP Wii U TV in Europe: ????-????

  • GoldenTriforce

Wait, Japan still had TVii? Why?

  • ≈ KobobKC ≈ ᔦꙬᔨ

Noooo, not Wii U Chat 🙁

  • RoadyMike

Terrible mods/bots, nothing but mindless children and report abuse. The only thing going for miiverse was the cool art
It won’t be missed by me. I like how the service ends in the same week as my birthday

    • Ninty Kad

      🙁

      • RoadyMike

        🙂

        • Ninty Kad

          Most of my friends I made was on miiverse ;A;

          • RoadyMike

If you were real friends you’d contact them by other means 😀

          • Ninty Kad

We were really close… helped me through a lot, honestly. So in a way… Miiverse help me thur some awful times when places like Tumblr and Twitter couldn’t…

          • Addy

Friends you meet through a screen are not friends. They are people you meet online who you will never see in person.

  • R.Z.

Like everything about the WiiU, at the end of the day it feels like they didn’t try that hard before giving up.

  • Annie Anemo

Yet titles that used miiverse for features integral to the game will still be sold for the same price because Nintendo refuses to lower the price of their software, like how Hyrule Warriors on Wii U is still being sold for $60

    • R.Z.

Aren’t retailers dropping the prices on their own initiative ?

      • Annie Anemo

Some retailers do but Nintendo never lowers their MSRP unlike Microsoft, Sony, Bandai and everyone else

  • Tjnswitch

Miiverse helped my old Gen.-X as$ finally get into social media…it “broke the ice” as they say. I enjoyed sharing screen shots around the world. I also had some really interesting chats about aliens & spaceships with one Mii in particular that will not be forgotten LOL !!! I now have created my first Twitter account for my Switch so i can continue in a broader fashion as such, so “follow” me and i’ll “follow” you ! #tjnswitch
