Monster Hunter XX is coming to Switch, Capcom has announced.

More details about this version of the game will be shared at the Monster Hunter Championship 2017 on Saturday. This will include a Japanese release date for the game.

For the time being, access a teaser site for the Switch version of Monster Hunter XX here.

Monster Hunter XX is an expanded version of Monster Hunter Generations. Generations came out in the west on 3DS last year. In Japan, Capcom released Monster Hunter XX on the same portable back in March.

ITs going to flop bigger than the 3DS version…. look at the 5 nut huggers rejoicing….. rofl

    • Scot

3DS version didn’t flop sold over a million and a half. -w- nice bait though.

      • Unregisterred007

        tanked in NA…

        • amak11

Which console are you talking about? Generations Sold over 1 million

        • Sagadego15

          salty troll is salty.

        • LK

But MHXX isn’t even out yet in NA… it hasn’t even been announced yet??

        • Stuart

What are you talking about? That game wasnt even released outside of Japan yet at all.

          • They gotta reach for something, lol.

        • Ganondorf Dragmire

MHXX hasn’t even released in NA

    • amak11

      Lol, moron

      • Sagadego15

he’s the alt of that moron that got destroyed before

        • Stuart

Another alt? How many alts is this guy gonna make?

          • jm8080

He’s gonna make an alt as long as he’s getting attention, if people stopped biting his bait comments and pretend he doesn’t exist sooner or later he is going to lose the motivation for creating alt accounts.

        • Eagle367

I annoyed that guy so hard. It was so fun we started a you are so bad a troll with him

    • hi v3.0

      You dumb

      • Roto Prime

Sorry about the other day….my surface pro now has about 30min of battery life fully charged…..I need a new computer >.<

    • Thun3r

I am not a fan of games like this but if it comes out soon I will be picking it up. There aren’t many AAA Switch games to choose from right now….. This will sell fine everywhere

  • Adrian Brown

It was a matter of time. I hope they consider making a new entry from the ground for Switch.

    • Ganondorf Dragmire

I’m sure that once they finish up with this they’ll make the 5th gen MH title on the Switch (if not both on switch and 3DS like with 3U with WiiU and 3DS)

      • Adrian Brown

3U was still a port. Hopefully MH5 is made exclusively for Switch, otherwise it won’t be at full potential.

        • MH5 will definitely be a Switch exclusive. Nintendo themselves have already said there won’t be anymore mainline Fire Emblem games coming to the 3DS which is certainly insinuating that the 3DS is on its way out and that the Switch will be the primary focus

        • Ganondorf Dragmire

          Yeah, true.
At least they’ve proven they aren’t going to skip out with good graphics – MHXX is looking pretty sweet on the Switch.

      • R.Z.

As much as I love MH, the formula could use some major updates, and that can only happen if they finally jump on a “powerful” console.
If MH5 also releases on 3DS, then it will just be another PS2+ game in terms of production value and possibilities.

  • β‰ˆ KobobKC β‰ˆ

This might be my first Monster hunter game. Good stuff.

    • Gilmar Venancio

The series is now very acessible to new players and the community is really helpful as well, glad to see more people excited for this.

      • SpectralDynamite

I might consider getting it myself, if that’s true.

        • Gilmar Venancio

In MH3U for Wii U was really easy to get quests in common with other people, voice chat, etc. Really smooth online experience overall. Of course Switch can do anything better those aspects, so it will be really to progress in this game.

AND all DLCs are free, something that you really dont see in any other Capcom series.

        • LK

Monster Hunter honestly has one of, if not the best, communities I’ve ever encountered in gaming. I’m only sad I never got into it sooner.

  • JasonBall

If this comes west with BotW dlc this may be my first mh game.

  • KABOOM

  • Tide

Now we just need the NA/EU announcement and we’re golden.

    • KnightWonder

We’ll probably get it, but it won’t be until after the Japanese launch. You can still import itthough.

      • SpectralDynamite

Or get it digitally right away with a Japanese eShop account.

        • KnightWonder

          Or that.

      • Tide

Yea, im guessing it’ll either be a simultaneous release in Nov, or JPN Switch launch in Nov and NA/EU release in March.

      • SetzerGabbiani

Assuming Capcom has been working on the 3DS version’s localization for a while, I don’t see why we couldn’t get the Switch version at the same time as Japan.

    • The Japanese version will probably have English actually.

  • Thor Mjolnirs

Keeping it stuck on underpowered systems I see.

    • amak11

      Cry more Sony pony

      • Thor Mjolnirs

PlayStation is also a batch of underpowered nonsense.

        • amak11

          qq

          • Thor Mjolnirs

You have slain me with your eloquent, thoughtful message. I have been swayed by your speech and have been enlightened.

          • JasonBall

As opposed to your golden insight

          • jimmy

*enter thats what your mom said joke here*

    • TDude73

Yeah… an underpowered system that can handle Unreal Engine 4.16 !

      • Addy

You just admitted the Switch is underpowered, silly boy.

        • TDude73

Addy… it was a freaking joke. The only thing that’s not a joke is that the Switch TRULY supports Unreal Engine 4.16.

    • PRIMUS

The salt in your comment is beautiful.

  • Mario Berg

If I’m not gonna be able to import my MHGen savedata to the Switch somehow I’m gonna be pissed.

    • Sagadego15

there is a event this Saturday in japan, hopefully they’ll say something about that.

    • Addy

      Welcome to every port ever.

  • Locky Mavo

I literally cried out in joy reading this, so stoked!

  • Ninty Kad

Well, Capcom is gonna make a lotta money

  • Lance Devon

    Hey look, more ports.

    • Ninty Kad

      Well, a smart port

      • Lance Devon

Like how one game is ported, people complain, but when it’s something else; “LET’S PRETEND PORTS ARE OKAY!”

Seriously, the landscape of the gaming industry is bonkers.

        • Ninty Kad

It mostly depends on the port itself

          • Lance Devon

Still curious if Cappy is ever going to revisit Maximo on any level. They’re the port kings, surely they can take a break from porting RE4 to port something fitting for the Switch.

          • Sagadego15

i want the onimusha series in hd

          • Lindsey Stewart

And availability of said port, which is not released outside of japan and on 3ds,
            no western release

        • capitalism1023

Says the guy who probably owns either a Xbox One or PS4 which are littered with ports. I’ll take a Monster Hunter port any day especially if they remaster it in HD and so would you if it was on another system which is why you’re so butthurt.

          • Lance Devon

Way to assume, bro. I have a PC and 3DS, PS4 eventually, just the exclusives are almost as garbage as PS3’s (and I bought into that hype an got it day one).

But, hey, if it makes you feel better; I am also a religious nutcase superbeast corporate executive that takes peoples’ healthcare away too. Helps you hate me easier if you believe that too.

          • capitalism1023

Yeah blah blah blah you own 15 systems and it don’t bother you none you butthurt fanboy. Also how’s come you snowflakes have to make absolutely everything political? It’s been 6 months you oversensitive pansies. Time to move on with life.

          • Lance Devon

Yeah, figured it’d make you more hateful, you’re welcome, pudding. Glad to be of service.

          • capitalism1023

Cool story. Is puddin’ what you call your transgender best friend that dresses up like Harley Quinn or is it the other way around? Excuse me if I’m not up to date with the current trend of identity politics.

          • Lance Devon

I don’t follow tumblr trend, sugar, I literally don’t know what joke you’re talking about. Soooo…. Neat!

          • capitalism1023

“sugar” uh oh now we’re getting racial.

          • Lance Devon

            Kay.

        • Gilmar Venancio

MH3U on Wii U was better in every aspect when compared to 3DS version, so with MHXX it will not be different. If a port makes no difference to the experience then is something wrong, thats not the case here.

          • Lance Devon

Explain, please. What made MH3U better than it’s predecessor?

          • Gilmar Venancio

Its easy to point only the HD graphics, but is really the online experience that makes difference here.

          • Lindsey Stewart

            HD graphics

          • Lance Devon

If that’s it, that’s not a good reason how the game is “improved.”

          • Lindsey Stewart

It’s enough for me, plus it’s XX not generations per se, and on the switch
No way I’m not getting Monster Hunter on switch

        • Kouji Tamino

          There’s nothing wrong with ports.

          • Lance Devon

Pointing out the landscape of how people respond to ports.

Mainly against them, cause I feel like we’re only going to eventually just run in circles with a cycle of repeated re-releases.

          • Velen (Not WoW)

            That’s not going to happen.

        • Tlink7

What you just described isn’t exclusive to game communities, (un)fortunately πŸ˜›

        • R.Z.

All ports are not created equal.
Some add to the experience some don’t.

    • Sagadego15

well capcom is the king of ports next to square

      • Lance Devon

Hence my comment, this isn’t a surprise, me and a friend actually predicted the first (keyword; FIRST) MH game to hit the Switch would be a port of either XX or MH5 -AFTER- a 3DS release.

        • I mean, if their pattern for any given game and console at any given point, is to port. . . it’s not a hard guess to make?

But again, depends on what they do with it, as others mentioned. With the 3rd games, they kept adding pretty cool stuff, though I think 4 is where the additions started to weaken?

So as a port, this could be a great bridge to MonHun 5, or it could be them just milking entirely. We’ll see.

          • masterjedi

I really enjoy reading your comments. You’re always well spoken and objective.

          • Heh, thanks! I try to be. ^u^

  • Gilmar Venancio

Well, time to buy a Switch

  • capitalism1023

    Big league.

  • Vigilante_blade

A good way to bolster an installed base. I always wanted to play Monster Hunter on my TV again. I will get this.

    • Ragnell

Agreed! And with that sweet bass from the monsters etc from surround sound

  • It’s over. Nintendo has officially taken Japan.

  • hi v3.0

    THIS IS LIT
NO WONDER WHY THEY RELEASED IT WHEN SWITCH CAME OUT CUZ THERE’S GONNA BE A SWITCH VERSION EVENTUALLY
    YAAAAAAYY TOTALLY GONNA GET THIS

  • hi v3.0

    SPLATOON PLUS MONSTER HUNTER
    SWITCH DOMINATES JAPAN

    • Reggie

ADD YO-KAI WATCH TO THE MIX TOO

      I expect it.

      • gamegod

        And Dragon Quest X & XI…

      • Ganondorf Dragmire

I fully expect nonsense if they happen to add Yo-Kai watch
There’s an episode of the TV show where the main character has to come to terms with the fact that a girl he likes can fart

        it’s glorious

        • Reggie

I don’t watch the anime, but I would look forward to new games.

    • YamiryuuZero

Imagine when Fire Emblem and Pokemon strike the Switch!

  • Dascylus

I’ll be happy as long as I can convert my 3DS save over to it.

  • ben

END OF DAYS for supply of the Switch.

    • I have two coworkers who were waiting to buy a Switch for Mon Hun. There must be many more

  • metalpants

The only entry I got since Wii Tri was MH4U on 3DS and as interesting as it was, it just wasn’t the same as the big screen, so I didn’t really get to do anything in it. This though… This is historic.

  • Blanco8x8

If it’s coming to the west, it should be titled “Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate”.

    • Ganondorf Dragmire

      Or “Monster Hunter Cross-Generations”

      • Lucio OlteniΓ©

I’m partial to calling it “Monster Hunter NEXT-Generation” if only for it having an old NX joke in there as well.

    • awng781

Capcom should adopt Nintendo’s naming conventions.

“New Capcom Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate XL”

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

I wonder if this is crowd control for the comments by the Capcom COO about SFII being the determining factor?

    • Lindsey Stewart

We should complain more then n.n

    • SetzerGabbiani

Or purposeful misdirection, and thus a brilliant trolling.

    • masterjedi

Whoever interpreted the comments misinterpreted them. If you put the Japanese words side by side with english and correctly translate what he said, it comes out as something along the lines of “We will continue to evaluate the Switch’s progress as we do with all consoles while also monitoring the success of Street Fighter to gauge the interests of the Switch audience.” Basically he said the sales of the Switch itself will determine how they support it and they will also monitor the sales of the games they release on the platform to determine what kinds of games they’ll release on the platform moving forward.

  • Martin Naranjo

So they will actually take an effort on the port? Or they will just place every single 3DS asset and ship it like the Wii U MH3 Port?

Don’t get me wrong, i love Monster Hunter but those guy seem to be unwilling on the creation of new assets!

    • Lindsey Stewart

If the assets are HD a simple recompiling is all that’s needed.

  • Stuart

NOW THATS WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT,CAPCOM!

  • Kyle K. Moore

    itshappening.gif

  • metalpants

“Kids… lemme tell ya about the time Capcom exploded the internet. On the same day, we heard news that they were testing the Switch crowd with a rehashed, 30-year-old game… when suddenly, BOOM… they dropped the Monster Hunter bomb and took over Japan in one fell swoop.”

  • TDude73

I can see it now… Monster Hunter Generations II for Nintendo Switch!!!!

  • Panik64

freakin beautiful! I haven’t put much time into MHXX due to other stuff I had to do at the time and other games, but having it on the switch is definitely gonna get me straight back into it

  • Hex

    I…. am ready….
    sweet sweet satisfaction

  • Wanderlei

    Switch wins Japan.

  • Aiddon

And now Sony’s collective butt is clenching

  • heavenshitman1

So would this be a port or a ground up Switch build. Obviously wish the latter very much BUT,
eitherway, I’m not really well versed in the MH franchise, but this one game alone just about tops all Japan right?

I can see this on my Swirch real nicely

    • Could be either or. Likely to be a port, but we’ll see very soon.

This and DQ, yeah. (Although Pokemon is right up there with them.)

  • To quote Peach: “Sweet!”

  • Namless

Generations sucks. I don’t want XX on Switch, I want a NEW game !!

  • bunnyfreakz

    HYPE train incoming tomorrow.

  • Tlink7

I know a certain someone who will be quite happy with this announcement :3
But one has to wonder, did Capcom announce this to get rid of that translation debacle?

    • Fore

You saucy spy you. Of-course this is going to make my day!

    • masterjedi

I think this has been in the works for a while because it’s coming in year one of the Switch’s life cycle. No way they could optimize this for Switch so soon if they had just decided on doing it after seeing Switch’s sales.

  • Fore

See Capcom, I knew you’d be reasonable. NOW TAKE MY MONEY!

    • Velen (Not WoW)

I dunno if I disagreed with you on this happening or not, but if I did, I am officially eating my words now.

      • Fore

Don’t worry about it, Velen. It’s happening, that’s what matters.

  • cloud36426

Just curious. Is the gameplay for this better than the older ones? I have Freedom Unite on Vita and can’t really get into it due to the controls. I may go back and try again. Again I know Freedom Unite is an older game. Never tried any others based on that one.

    • GhostUrsa

Each game they’ve made since FUnite has improved upon the formula in previous entries. They’ve added more mobility options for each weapon, tweaked the combat for better balance, improved the AI of the monsters, and even allowed more combat focused customization for the different weapon styles. Things are much more streamlined than they ever were in MonHun FUnite.

With that being said, the core is still the same. If you didn’t like the core, (how animations can rarely be cancelled, forcing commitment to an action. How maps are segmented to encourage coordination between team members. How 25% of the game is preparation for the big fight) than later entries won’t change your mind. But if you saw something awesome in the old PSP games but just felt the game was too archaic with some of the decisions, you’ll be in for a massive treat.

      • cloud36426

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a shot. I really didn’t get far enough in to learn the mechanics due to the gameplay. So this may do it.

        • GhostUrsa

Best advice I can give to someone that likes MonHun but can’t seem to grasp all the mechanics is to play a little with another who already has played the game a bit. I’ve seen time and again people grasping in an hour or two with a group what would take 20-25 hours solo. (And this was back when things were still partially archaic, like with 3U. It’s even faster now) Even if you don’t plan to play a lot of the game in MP, just a few hunts (and a healthy set of questions) can make all the difference.

  • Ragnell

    I called it!

  • WhoaManWtF

Alright Capcom, now this game I will vote with my wallet and show you that Switch is a console you want to support!

  • Acantus

My eye balls thank you Capcom… Good bye tunnel vision πŸ™‚

  • Buddydudeguy

    Oh goody a 3DS port.

  • R.Z.

This totally made my day. I hope it will see a quick release in the West.

And I’m so glad I skipped Generations.
Who did they think I was, trying to sell me a Monster Hunter Game without G-rank, huh ?

  • awng781

I love how Capcom announces this game a day after people were crapping on them for “supposedly” basing their Switch support on the success/failure of USF2.

    The timing is hilarious.
