NES Classic Edition apparently hacked, plays up to 60 games

Posted on January 6, 2017 by in General Nintendo

If what is shown in this YouTube video is to be believed, it appears that the NES Classic Edition has been modified in a way to enable it to play a host of other NES titles, such as Dragon Warrior, Duck Tales and more.

YouTuber Arcaderu posted a video of himself scrolling through his list of games available on his NES Classic Edition, claiming that he can choose from 60 games to play on the console as opposed to the 30 that the NES Classic Edition ships with. Arcaderu claims that the console had been soft-modded, and that he did not need to open the case to achieve his results. You can view the video below.

Whatever turns out to be the case here, it would be wise to take this with a grain of salt for now. Arcaderu says he’ll release a video detailing the process of modding the device in the future, so keep an eye out for that if you fancy playing Darkwing Duck on your NES Classic Edition.

I can also play the whole collection on any android device or my PC… Waste of money and time.

Or I could just get my old NES out and play the games.

I wonder if the other 30 games will run correctly in the Mini Nes without any problems. You can soft-modded it if you can find a Mini Nes.

I’m assuming this was possible thanks to a Japanese post that was released today detailing on how to hack a Famicom Mini?

I wonder how many people will get a new paperweight this year in front of the TV.

It works! I tried to putting 97 games on it and it will boot up and go to the menu but it would fail to launch games. after I removed some games to bring the total down to 72, it loads all the games and the save states still work too. “hakchi2” is what your looking for

I can put a raspberry Pi inside a Nintendo case, which can have usb to NES ports and use my official controllers. The whole NES collection and HDMI output.

    Try harder next time.

      Still not official hardware.
And you’re not being a genius for using raspberry.

You said I couldn’t mod and put it into a NES… Well you can and it is very easy to do… Never said I was a genius.

I don’t care if it is official hardware or not.

The NES Mini is a joke and not worth the money at all.
