New Nintendo Direct Mini released

Posted on January 11, 2018 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch

Speculation has pointed to a possible Nintendo Direct on this very day. Nintendo has delivered on that front, but perhaps not in the way that was originally expected. A new Nintendo Direct Mini has just been released, and you can watch it in full below.

Oh crap, that Woman was right but welcome Dark Souls.

Dangit, Nintendo, you jerks. I should’ve bought a Vita. Then, I’d have one, maybe two games to look forward to. This??? How much time do you think I have? How much money? You want all of it, don’t you?

Crap, I’m seriously considering buying Tropical Freeze again, too. Gaming disorder, right here.

Man, Vita has over 40 cool games.
      Zeebo has no games.

A little….underwhelming. Compared to what was rumored. NO software update, no major franchise game announcements.

    • JasonBall

Amazing. Every word of what they said was wrong.

Never, NEVER, set your expectation too high especially if it’s based off rumors. it’s better that way.

How can you be underwhelmed when the software updated was a confirmed hoax? No major franchise game announcements? I suppose we have a different view of what a major game announcement is. There are a TON of Nintendo console owners who never got a chance to play Darksouls and no we’re getting the remaster side by side the HD twins. I think that’s pretty big to me.

Actually, I would agree with you… it didn’t really live up to the massive hype that people were inflating it to. But then again, it didn’t have to. They gave us a good picture of what to expect within Spring and early Summer, and had a lot of interesting things.

I took a look at the list of announcements I wrote up when watching. While there were fifteen main announcements, there were three DLC announcements, two demo announcements, dates and extras for a bunch of titles we already knew about, two Wii U ports, and an Indie title. That’s exciting, but it’s also padding.

To me, it seems like there were only three major announcements – three announcements that warranted a Direct, rather than just being a Twitter/Facebook announcement. Those games were Mario Tennis Aces, Ys VIII, and Dark Souls Remastered.

Depending on how you look at it, that’s one of two things. It’s either an awesome multiplayer game, an incredibly deep RPG, and an epic that changed the way games are made… or a sports game, a niche JRPG, and a port of last gen game.

Personally, I’m thrilled with what they announced. But I totally understand those who aren’t.

It’s a Direct mini. I don’t think they’ll announce the big stuff on minis.

  • MagcargoMan

This was a nice little direct. Nothing major, but it was nice to see Luigi appear in Odyssey, all the 3DS content in the console version of Hyrule Warriors as it should be, the new Mario Tennis seems like it’ll be a major improvement on the last one (especially since they’re gonna have a story mode like the GameBoy ones did) and I certainly wasn’t expecting The World Ends With You to be remastered.

Only thing I thought was kinda dumb was the Tropical Freeze port. I’m hoping it doesn’t add any new levels because I don’t really want to buy it again.

    • JasonBall

Or, even if they add new levels, you could… still not buy it.

      • MagcargoMan

And get screwed over for not being someone who contributed to the untimely death of their console? No, screw that.

        • JasonBall

          What?

          • MagcargoMan

I thought I was pretty clear. If I don’t buy it I miss out on new levels, assuming it has new levels.

          • JasonBall

Ah, okay. You confused me with console support talk.

  • Auragar

So technically I was wrong it was a mini not a real direct but still. I’ll take the L here.

Mizzah Tee, Red Knight and others like them warned you about inflating your hype to astronomical levels and tried to ask you to keep your expectations in check
    But you never listened
The blame on the disappointment and rage lies on you

I always keep me expectations in check for every Direct, Nindies Showcase and Digital Event/E3 Spotlight

This sadly reeks of E3 2015
    it’s the same pitiful situation
People were hyping for things that are unlikely from a new F-Zero, Mother 3 to a fugg’n Pokemon MMO
and when Digital Event 2015 happened people lost their mind to the point of either selling their Wii Us or throwing them in the trashcan in rage

I thought we learned from this but sadly we didn’t

To me, The Switch is getting some good stuff. And I’ll be in luck. I already own over 12 physical Switch games. BOTW, Lego City, Mario Kart 8 DX, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Splatoon 2, Sonic Forces, Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Skyrim and Super Bomberman R. and for Digital, I got Shantae, Double Dragon VI, Sonic Mania and that one Fate game that I currently don’t remember. That’s a lot more than what I got for my PS4 in the three years I’ve owned it. (Only Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection and Uncharted 4 on PS4.)
