Smash Bros. Wii U and Melee return at Evo 2017, Arms and Pokken Tournament nominated for final game

Evo 2017 has announced its lineup for this year’s tournament, which includes the return of two popular Nintendo games. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Smash Bros. Melee will both be represented. The news was shared during a live stream event on Twitch just a short while ago. Super Smash Bros. Melee has been a mainstay at Evo, and Smash Bros. for Wii U has been featured since its release.

The one Nintendo game not officially returning from last year is Pokken Tournament. However, a vote will be held to determine the last game at Evo, and that title is nominated – along with Arms, the brand new Switch game from Nintendo.

Voting will be done through donations on the website Generosity. If you’d like to participate, you can do so here.

lol…I did not read the full title. I saw Super Smash Bros Wii U, Melee, Pokken, and I thought for a moment that they might be getting ported to Switch, so I immediately clicked.

Is it wrong that I just want Arms to have more exposure.

    • Man

Of course not! It’s another new IP from the Big N! The more exposure, the better. Nintendo should make at least a new IP per system they make.

      • Locky Mavo

Actually, they kinda already do that.

  • theFooFighter

I really hope smash 4 gets ported to the switch. The game is too good and too new to be replaced within the next few years simply because the Wii u is being phased out

    • CaptainPleb

      Completely agree.

It’s been confirmed Smash WiiU will be ported to the Switch but it’ll take a few months to be released. I sold my Smash WiiU copy because I didn’t really play it and the Switch will include all of the DLC.

I wasn’t really up to buying all of the DLC packs even though I wanted to play as Ryu and Bayonetta.

Where exactly is this confirmation of Smash 4 being ported to Switch with all DLC? This is news to me.

        • Phenom

It was not confirmed. But when asked about the paid online service, Reggie named many games and said “Smash”.

          • TheWeasel

That’s definitely not solid confirmation, I had a feeling it was just speculation. Thank you.

    • this will never happen….

        Why not?

Pokkén at Evo? The gameplay consists of rock, paper, scissor with some liberty. Pretty strange that made its way to Evo.

Seems like they’re doing it just for fun considering ARMS is there too.

    • AquaBat

…I don’t think you understand how Pokken works

    • Bap

Players have found tech to pretty much make those situations a 50/50. I haven’t been keeping up with it but its not rock paper, scissor anymore.

  • Mr.Sixes

Let do this Everybody throw you arms Up!

  • As cool as it would be to see ARMS at an actual event…SkullGirls deserves it

  • Bap

If you want ARMS in you need to donate guys.

  • Dr.Phishshoe

Oh conflicting feelings i began in the competitive Pokken community , but Im now in the ARMS community

  • Blanco8x8

So it’s either Pokken or ARMS, but not both?

I really like what ARMS had to offer, but it looked like Pokken was just getting started.

  • SpectralDynamite

Why must I choose? I want them both there, dammit.
