Tiny Metal to be published under new Sony Music Entertainment label Unties, out November 21

Posted on October 17, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop

Sony Music Entertainment announced today the establishment of a brand new publishing label Unties.

Here’s what they’re looking to accomplish:

With the growth of game development environments, high quality game development has become possible even in small scale environments, and the evolution of digital publishing has made it easier to distribute developed titles to users worldwide. On the other hand, with a mixed bag of titles overflowing the market, there are also situations where interesting titles are buried without being noticed.

At Unties, we dig up the masterpieces buried in those situations, and support them so that more users notice and pick them up. We spread information about excellent games and sell titles for multiple platforms.

The name “Unties” comes from the thought “to unleash the excellent talents of unique game creators all over the world” and “setting creators free from the various shackles of game publishing, named from the intention of realizing publishing that is freedom of production without restraints.”

In sharing the news, we can now say that Tiny Metal has a release date. The tactics simulation game launches November 21 worldwide.

About time Sony went third party! Now for Little Big Planet on Nintendo Switch!!!

Sony Music Entertainment is like a seperate company from SIE which handles the PlayStation stuff. So I won’t get my hopes up for PS games on Switch. But its always fun to see Sony-related stuff on Nintendo consoles. The last time I can remember is Sony Music publishing Xenoblade X’s soundtrack.

Ow man!! I really Wanted LBP on Nintendo Switch ;____; such an amazing game T____T your a murder of dreams Ryosuke!!!

        • Ryosuke Yamada

          Sorry man 🙁

          • Roto Prime

I forgive you and now I love you <3

I believe this only applies to Japan. Worldwide, Tiny Metal I think is being published by Team 17. If not; then Area 34 or 35, or whatever number is fashionable this week is the publisher.

If I remember correctly; Sony Music Entertainment Japan used to publish games for North America for the SNES under the Sony Imagesoft banner. So talk about blasts from the past…

I mean I would defend Nintendo for not going third party but ask Sony to go third party:/

    • Exy

Don’t forget that Sony also provided the audio chip for the SNES. It’s only fitting that the music department announces development for Switch now.

      • Roto Prime

        This is cool info!!

        • Exy

Designed solely by Ken Kutaragi, who also headed development of SNES CD-ROM before that had to go back to Sony as PlayStation.

  • Busterblade

Considering the tensions between Sony and Nintendo with those deals and such, I duly hope Sony won’t be abusing this to “slow the Switch down” as they’ve seem rather intent to do.

    • Ryosuke Yamada

I doubt it since Sony Music is almost unrelated to Sony Interactive Entertainment which handles the PlayStation stuff. In fact, Sony Music has been working with Nintendo for a while for their soundtracks publishing. I know Xenoblade X as well as several Pokemon soundtracks (from movies and anime) are all handled by Sony Music’s sublabels.

      • Busterblade

        Fair enough.

      • ShonenJump

Even being the sponsors of the anime. Its a good subsidiary 🙂

    • GoldenTriforce

Nintendo could just pull their publishing license if they get a bit iffy.

    • ben

      Different companies.

  • GoldenTriforce

Not all that surprising, Sony Music has published Nintendo OSTs before.

  • TDude73
