Updated Bayonetta 1 Switch file size

Posted on January 11, 2018 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch

Amazon Japan previously reported file sizes for both Bayonetta 1 and 2 on Switch. But now that Nintendo has the official information on the eShop, it seems what the retailer had listed was slightly inaccurate – at least for the first title.

The file size for Bayonetta 1 is 8.5GB. Bayonetta 2 will still take up 12.4GB. Amazon previously had the first Bayonetta down for about 16GB, so this is actually a good change.

    Nintendo witchcraft.

      You mean switchcraft

      • FutureFox

        Sandwitch craft.

So if we’re to believe that Cartridges are 32gb why the hell aren’t both games in the cartridge again?

    • Tlink7

There are smaller cartridges which are cheaper

    • awng782

32 GB cartridges are expensive. Only one game (Dragon Quest Heroes 1+2) uses them, and it’s a Japan-exclusive that costs a lot.

“Just download the game, it’s the same thing!!” – Nintendo fanboy

You know, after the Switch servers go down several retail-based games will become unplayable due to chopping half of its content as digital content. Never mind the eShop-only games.

      • Jenjoint

I’m lost if you download the digital content why would the game become unpalatable?

        • sremick

The person who buys the physical cart used to keep playing the Switch later in life after Nintendo shuts down the servers. Like we still do with our Wii.

        • R.Z.

          unpalatable ?
Well, because of that sour coating on the cartridges that made the news around last year, I guess ?
(Personally I like the taste, but don’t repeat that)

If people wanted to downloable games, people would go to eshop to get them, not the retail store.

        • Jenjoint

If you download the game it’s on your system’s memory not the eshop. Downloads save to the switch itself or an micro sd

          • Aline Piroutek

So…it isn’t an eShop code to redeem?

          • LunarD3ATH

You’re missing their point. Once downloaded, Nintendo headquarters and all of its subsidiaries could explode in a fiery blaze and you still have your game downloaded onto your system.

…but anyone who wants to download their copy that hasn’t (or has deleted it to make room) would no longer be able to. Physical cartridges don’t have this issue so long as plenty of copies have been printed and placed in circulation.

          • Aline Piroutek

Digital copies are just like piracy but legal.

      • TheWeasel

Absolutely ridiculous. Our games are safe as long as we don’t remove them from the console after said servers go down.

If you plan on countering by stating the limited memory of the Switch, it’s simple enough and even affordable enough to bypass this limitation.

It’s likely that someone who has the means to afford enough downloadable titles to fill the Switch’s memory also has the means to afford one or more memory cards.

Even if it’s normally out of one’s budget, if one is serious about downloading games and truly fears losing them, they will make sure to have enough storage to keep all the games they want.

That’s interesting, the Wii U version was said to be around 14-17 GB but that seems to be the odd man out since the PS3, 360, PC and Switch version seem to hover around at 7-10 GB. I wonder what made the Wii U version so big.

    • Felipe M.

The PS3 version was a butchered job. Never speak of the devil.

  • StuOhQ

That makes more sense 🙂 “Bayo” 1 being bigger than 2 didn’t add up.

    • FutureFox

It does if the code was really inefficient. Just look at EA.

  • Bart

Nice, I still have enough room for it on internal memory then, looks like I’ll be playing this sooner than I thought.

    • Switch Boyz

you don’t own many games then i have almost filled my 200gb micro sd and internal storage

      • Bart

12 physical, 9 digital at the moment, 11.5gb left… I just don’t tend to buy games that are digital only if they’re more than 1 gb. (For the moment, I’m just trying to put off buying a micro sd for as long as possible.)

        • Switch Boyz

Well i just bought my 200gb it was 60 pounds in UK
i only buy digital because im too lazy to switch cartridges

  • Ezereal

And many games are still hidden from us : Dragon Quest XI,several indies such as Hollow Knight and Indivisible, Tales Of, they didn’t show anything new about Project Octopath or Yoshi.

Another Direct or Direct Mini could come before E3.

    • Padre

Yoshi and Kirby are both targeted to younger audience so its logical they wont be released near each other.

  • Roto Prime

Could not fit both in a single game card Nintendo?…..

    • Felipe M.

      Because $$$.

    • Melatelo

If even Nintendo shy’s away for it..that’s a pretty bad sign. They must be way more pricey than we even imagine.

      • Roto Prime

Very true statement, I will never understand why they want to make a 64 GB version…

  • Felipe M.

What got me surprised about B1 is its high price. Nintendo is the Apple of gaming.

  • R.Z.

Nice, I think I can fit that into my console without too much of a second thought.
