YouTube Wii support ends at the end of June

Posted on May 28, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii

Support for the YouTube app on Wii is ending in the near future. An official notice states that after June 30, users will be on their own, but can still access YouTube “in many other ways.”

Frankly, it’s surprising to see that support lasted as long as it did. Nintendo has created two new consoles since the Wii after all.

Hopefully they can focus their extra resources on giving a good experience on the Switch version. I’m surprised this lasted as long as it did considering it came out on the tail end of the Wii’s life, after the Wii U was announced.

Oh wow. I wonder when Netflix, Hulu and Amazon will follow, ultimately ending in the Wii Shop going away and taking dozens of exclusives with it.

I think the Wii Shop Channel already ended for Wii, but people accessing it on Wii U can still get to it.

Nope. You might be thinking of how the DSi shop ended but all it’s games are on the 3ds eshop.

No it didn’t. I still buy VC games on that channel.
The original FFVI can only be found there, currently.

Wow I’m surprised that it didn’t end already. Who still watched YouTube on Wii XD
With that being said hopefully there will be a YouTube for Switch after that..

This is too vague … the app will cease to function, no more update, or what?

    • It won’t work anymore.
