25 years of Zelda: An in-depth look at the greatest video game franchise ever

Posted on November 12, 2011 by (@NE_Austin) in Features, General Nintendo

So now, as I sit here about a week before the release of a game that is looking like one of the greatest Zelda outings yet, I can’t help but wonder how far the series is going to stretch into the future, and whether or not it will ever gain the artistic recognition it deserves. When the visuals, music, storylines, underlying themes, and gameplay elements are taken into account, I truly have a hard time seeing how anything could not believe that this falls under artistic consideration. But, then again, worse crimes have been committed, and for now it will just have to suffice that I myself can get truly and utterly lost in the land of Hyrule, which for me is a place without equal.

Happy 25th anniversary, folks.

Man, I almost forgot to give credit to the artist of that first pic! The rest of the images are just screens/official art, but that first Hyrule Field picture was taken from AiBryce’s DeviantArt page. I’ve sent him an e-mail making sure it’s okay that it’s here, but if he says that he’d prefer I not use it, I’ll most certainly remove it. I just thought it was too beautiful to pass up and share with you guys!
