It has finally been confirmed that Mistwalker CEO Hironobu Sakaguchi is the director of Nintendo’s upcoming RPG, The Last Story. This doesn’t come as a big surprise, as a number of signs indicated that the Final Fantasy creator has been in charge of the project. As was shared in an Iwata Asks interview published today, the last time Sakaguchi fully directed a game was Final Fantasy V. A “gray period” followed that particular title’s release, in which Sakaguchi would “direct half” of an assortment of games such as Final Fantasy VI.
