Digital Foundry has taken a closer look at the Switch version of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Specifically, the game’s technical performance has been examined in greater detail.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is 16GB on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the Switch version is about 6GB. How’d the team managed to shrink the game’s file size? Part of this can be attributed to slightly lower-quality pre-encoded videos. If you’re playing in handheld mode in particular, this is something you probably won’t notice easily.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled runs at 720p when docked. That number drops to 576p when playing with four people on the same screen with local multiplayer.

As far as portable mode goes, the resolution here is 480p. Note that four-player support is disabled in this mode.

Aside from resolution, docked and portable modes are nearly identical. Shadows are a bit better when docked, but that’s pretty much it. Both maintain a stable 30 frames per second.

Here’s the full analysis from Digital Foundry, which also includes a comparison to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions:
