Switch update out now (version 17.0.1), patch notes
Switch owners can get their hands on the latest system update as Nintendo has just started distribution of version 17.0.1.
The same song and dance applies here once again. Past updates have been about stability, and that’s the case for version 17.0.1 as well. However, the slight wrinkle is that Nintendo also addressed an issue with local communication for some titles.
Here’s the official rundown in full from Nintendo, which is expectedly short:
Switch update version 17.0.1 patch notes
- Resolved an issue with local communication for some software.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
While Nintendo always points to stability, sometimes things are a bit more specific than that. The company doesn’t go into the details, but sometimes there can be things like the list of bad words being updated. In any case, unless something isn’t specifically pointed out by Nintendo, you can assume that there isn’t anything too major.
If you’re looking to download the Switch version 17.0.1 update immediately, you can do so by visiting the system settings. Simply go over to the “System” tab and select the “System Update” option. For most Switch users, it should download in the background automatically and they’ll receive a prompt soon to install it.
