The King is Watching

Today, publisher tinyBuild and developer Hypnohead unveiled The King is Watching. The game will be out for Nintendo’s console in Q4 2024 – stay tuned for an exact date.

The King is Watching is a roguelite kingdom builder. Players will look to defend their castle against waves of enemies.

Here’s a bunch of additional details:

Sire! There are countless reports of peasants and workers sleeping on the job, not producing the bare minimum for the kingdom to operate! Only your watchful eye can help them understand the importance of working, for the good of the Kingdom!

Your people’s unique… ability to do nothing while unsupervised has one advantage: you have entire control on what’s produced and when:

  • Glance at the wheat fields, and your peasants will start harvesting.
  • Watch the barracks and knights will be training
  • Monitor your mines and forest and workers will finally be gathering stone and wood

Your Royal Skill of balancing resource production, troop training, and magic guild is what will save our kingdom! Avert your attention to other royal matters, and production will stop.

To restock the Royal Reserve with the rarest materials, your Majesty must order the construction of Royal production Chains. This will enable your Kingdom to thrive thanks to bigger, more upgraded buildings and experienced warriors to defend our Royal Walls!

You also shall order to trade those resources and gather ancient magical knowledge to strengthen our Royal Defenses!

Unfortunately, considering the enemies lurking in the shadows surrounding your Royal Kingdom, we will need to Royally improve our defenses. We shall encourage the building of a Royal Mage Guild and start producing spells to help you defend the Castle Royal Walls.

Our Royal Knights and Archers will also need to be trained as well as more …uncommon Royal subjects… Did I mention to thy Majesty the possibility to train Royal Flour Dragons?

Depending on your Royal wishes, playstyle and strategy, we will need to adjust our building deck. There are many ways to defend our Kingdom and Royal Experimentation is key for success!
