Nintendo says CES 2025 Switch 2 leaks aren’t official, Genki says it hasn’t seen hardware
As Switch 2 leaks and rumors reach a fever pitch, Nintendo has put out a statement addressing the situation slightly – and we also have an update from Genki.
A big part of the Switch discussion this week surrounds Genki, an accessories maker. The company went as far as to bring a dummy model to CES 2025 and allowed members of the media to get their hands on it. Genki also told IGN that this “was based on a real Switch 2 system it had seen and used as the basis for its accessories.” But now the company is changing its tune.
Genki has now apparently told Japanese publication Game*Spark that its Nintendo Switch 2 mockup was merely based on the rumored details floating out there in the industry. Further, the company hasn’t actually seen the system.
That’s not all for today’s news though, as Nintendo actually issued a statement of its own. According to Nintendo, the videos and images from CES 2025 “are not official.” Given what we’ve just mentioned about Genki, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Of course, there have been many other rumors and leaks outside of CES. However, Nintendo did not address those.
