Nintendo Switch Online removing its first game – Super Soccer to be pulled in Japan

Nintendo Switch Online game removed Super Soccer

Nintendo Switch Online hasn’t removed a game from the service before, but that’s now happening with Super Soccer.

On social media, it was announced that the title is being pulled on March 28. Once that date passes, the game will no longer be accessible. Nintendo did not provide a reason for the removal – it could be rights related or something else entirely.

Note that as of now, there’s no word on whether the removal is happening overseas as well. There’s definitely the possibility that Super Soccer could be removed from Nintendo Switch Online in North America and Europe as well. If we happen to hear anything on that front, we’ll let you know.

Nintendo Switch Online first began offering games starting in 2018. The fact that we’ve gone so many years without a game being pulled is encouraging. Hopefully today’s example is a rare exception and not a sign of things to come.

Nintendo Switch Online is still adding classic games on a regular basis. Most recently, the GBA game Wario Land 4 was offered to members at the Expansion Pack tier. News about what’s being added and coverage of the service in general can be found here.
