Nintendo Genki Switch 2 lawsuit

It’s now come to light that Nintendo is pursuing legal action against Genki, an accessories maker that gained notoriety before the reveal of Switch 2.

Before the system was officially announced earlier in the year, leaks and rumors were flying in left and right. Genki was one such entity that got in on the action. At CES 2025 a few months ago, the company was showing off a Nintendo Switch 2 dummy replica. Nintendo understandably wasn’t too happy with what transpired.

That brings us to the most recent development. Nintendo has now officially filed a lawsuit against Genki, claiming that the violated their trademarks. Genki, Nintendo says, “demoed and promoted unauthorized purported mockups and renderings of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its accessories” at this year’s trade show.

Additionally, Genki did not have access to a Nintendo Switch 2 unit, despite initially claiming otherwise. Nintendo argues that “claims of compatibility would be impossible to guarantee without unauthorized, illegal early access to the Nintendo Switch 2” and therefore the company “has misled and is misleading the public as to its ability to guarantee the compatibility of its products with the Nintendo Switch 2.”

Below are a couple of official documents about the matter:
