Shin’en says Nintendo Switch 2 power allowed for new rendering tech in Fast Fusion, talks implementing GameShare
Speaking in an interview with Nintendo Everything, Shin’en CEO Manfred Linzner revealed that the team is using “completely new rendering tech” in its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 launch game Fast Fusion.
Linzner was talking about the capabilities of the console when that tidbit was shared. “It’s amazing how much power you can get out of a device that also works as a handheld,” he said. And because of that power, we should be seeing a better looking title compared to the studio’s Switch 1 launch title Fast RMX. Linzner told us that compared to that game, Fast Fusion will have a world that’s “much more alive and beautiful.”
Shin’en has long been known for its technical wizardry, and is putting that knowledge to use to implement GameShare. With that feature, you’ll be able to use just one copy of the title to play with a friend. But because Shin’en decided to render the game twice for two screens, it made things “demanding” and implementing the functionality was “difficult.”
Linzner stated:
“Until recently Fast Fusion was the only Nintendo Switch 2 game we have ever seen. So everything we’ve done was a first, which is always a bit difficult. Implementing GameShare can be done in a variety of ways. We decided to render the game two times for the two screens. This means this is very demanding for the game engine and needed a lot of optimization. So this was actually difficult.”
Something else we recently shared is that Shin’en is open to a post-launch 120FPS mode for Fast Fusion. Read about that here.
