Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2 – full list of improvements
Epic published a new post today outlining all of the improvements for Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2. If you’ve been playing on the current Nintendo Switch, you’ll notice various upgrades.
Fortnite has received a number of technical upgrades on Nintendo Switch 2. That means it runs at full 60 frames per second at a higher resolution, plus more. Mouse controls are also coming imminently via patch 36.00.
The full rundown is as follows:

- 60 FPS
- Higher resolution (2176×1224 docked, 1600×900 undocked)
- Greater view distances (See more things in the distance)
- Higher-quality textures, higher-quality shadows, and higher-quality water rendering (nice water)
- Clothing physics enabled
- The Replay system is here — relive your best Battle Royale matches from another perspective!
- Capture video clips using the Capture button
- GameChat supported — stream your Fortnite gameplay with up to three other friends
- For the hardcore tech folks: full “desktop” renderer, high-detail geometry, distance field ambient occlusion in docked mode, shadow casting point lights, high-quality effects
- Mouse controls supported with Joy-Con 2 (Starting June 7)
Epic has also confirmed that Nintendo Switch controllers can be played with Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2. This includes the Pro Controller.
Save the World cannot be accessed on Nintendo Switch 2. However, everything else can be played.
Finally, Fortnite players can get their hands on a Wishing Star Emote when they first log into Fornite on Nintendo Switch 2. This will be available until March 31, 2026.
