Bandai Namco explains out-of-order releases for Tales of remasters
Bandai Namco has shared some insight into its out-of-order release schedule for its Tales of remasters.
The company started a specific initiative for these types of games a little while back. For the first effort, we saw Tales of Graces f Remastered, which originally debuted in 2009. Moving on from that, Tales of Xillia Remastered – based on its initial 2011 launch – arrives in about a month. We also technically saw new versions of Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Vesperia before the Tales of Remastered Project began.
Bandai Namco has indicated that the release order is dependent on technical factors. Speaking during a panel at TGS 2025, general producer Yusuke Tomizawa noted (as relayed by Automaton Media):
“We have to start by finding out where the source code is and who’s managing it. It’s a bit embarrassing, but since there were multiple different development studios working on the series over the years, we have to find the original data first. And when we do find it, it can be full of gaps, which takes months of analysis to deal with.”
Bandai Namco has been planning multiple remaster projects simultaneously. Teams then decide which titles to prioritize based on how quickly they’re likely to be completed. Tomizawa did point out some fans might be wondering about the release order, but Bandai Namco wants to get things out as soon as possible while maintaining quality.
You’ll be able to grab Tales of Xillia Remastered for Nintendo Switch on October 31, 2025. Read more about it here.
